plus/minusCan I send back a controller to be reconditioned?

Yes! Our comprehensive, fully equipped Technical Aftersales Service can replace all external parts on all current production units so that your controller will look 'as-new'. Depending on parts availability, it may also be possible to offer this service on older controllers no longer in current production. In addition, all returned product is fully retested & recalibrated to ensure a completely reliable & safe unit, as standard. 
 
The cost of this service is tailored to the amount of work required to bring the unit to the required standard. We only charge for the parts used and the time taken to complete the refurbishment. Prices are therefore levied on an individual basis, however, we are confident that we can offer an extremely competitive price on any of your requests. We're also happy to provide a free quote prior to any work being undertaken, just ask!
 
Mobility products are extremely safety-critical devices and use of inappropriate spare parts or incorrect calibration and test procedures, could result in a potentially hazardous condition. By using a factory repair service, you can be guaranteed that only parts approved by the original design engineers are used to effect repairs & refurbishment. Using calibration and test procedures identical to the original production process proves the validity of these repairs. CW-IG therefore offer a service of unique quality for our own products, giving you peace of mind that the controller will operate and perform exactly as the original. 
 
In addition to a basic repair service & cosmetic refurbishment, various other options are available such as fast track service & collection of defective units from your premises. Aggressive time targets have been set and in the majority of cases, these are bettered. All units are despatched with a full investigation report detailing any work undertaken, as well as on any fault and its likely cause.

plus/minusDo you supply controller mounting brackets?

At present, the only bracket we supply, is used for mounting our Pilot controller to older chairs that were originally fitted with PG8. Due to the huge variety of vehicles currently on the market & the number of different motor controllers we manufacture, it is not possible for us to source mounting brackets economically for any of our other products.
 
Vehicle manufacturers may be able to offer alternatives or for customised applications, machine shops can often supply bespoke solutions.

You can view & download all of our technical manuals at our website, provided you have 'SSRT' access. plus/minusWhat do I need to convert a powerchair currently fitted with a Pilot controller to Pilot+?

The first part that you will need to convert a powerchair from Pilot to Pilot+ is a power module. The power module required will depend on the current rating of the original controller. To determine this value, please contact our Technical Aftersales Service with the 'D' type number of the Pilot. To connect the power module to the batteries, solenoid brakes & motors, you will need our connector kits, D49712 & D49713. These will replace the existing beau plug with 'Intech' connectors. For advice on programming the new power module, please contact Technical Aftersales Service.
 
The next step is to choose the user interface. This will usually be one of our standard Pilot+ joystick modules, with or without lights functionality, (D49670 & D49671, respectively). Alternatively, you may wish to fit a speciality user interface such as our chin box, (D49681), attendant control, (D49907), or Omni+ module, (D49850). The Pilot+ power module is supplied with a serial bus lead that connects into the user interface socket. Please specify the length of cable you require, when ordering this module.
 
If seating actuators or lights are required on the powerchair then you will also need an ALM module. The model number will depend on how many actuators, if any, are to be fitted to the chair. plus/minusWhat warranty do you offer on your products?

All new CW-IG controllers have 2 years warranty from their date of manufacture. By examining the 'PG' label on your controller, it is possible to identify this date. The first number on the label is our product part number and will be prefixed with a 'D', e.g. D49681. This helps us to identify exactly which 'black box' you have. The second number on the label contains the year & month the unit was manufactured.
 
Depending on the type of controller fitted to the powerchair or scooter, the serial number will have a particular format. Below, are some common examples:
 
K3044523 - This format is found on our Pilot+ range. The first number shows the year the unit was manufactured, followed by 2 further digits, representing the month. Therefore, in this example, the controller would have been produced in April 2003.
 
AC05012684 - This format is found on our VSI, VR2 & S-drive ranges. The first 2 numbers show the year the unit was manufactured, followed by 2 further digits, representing the month. Therefore, in this example, the controller would have been produced in January 2005.
 
14087239 - This format is found on our Solo & Egis ranges. The second number shows the year the unit was manufactured, followed by 2 further digits, representing the month. Therefore, in this example, the controller would have been produced in August 2004.
 
050206217 - This format is found on some of our older products e.g. Pilot. The first 2 numbers show the year the unit was manufactured, followed by 2 further digits, representing the month. Therefore, in this example, the controller would have been produced in February 2005.
 
All returned controllers are given 3 months warranty from the date of repair or the remainder of the existing warranty, whichever is longest. Remember we warranty the whole controller, not just the parts repaired.

plus/minusWhich spare parts can I purchase directly from PGDT?

We are often asked for spare parts for our controllers, however, mobility products are extremely safety-critical devices and use of inappropriate spare parts or incorrect calibration and test procedures, could result in a potentially hazardous condition. Therefore, we can only supply parts that do not require the opening of the controller. A list of these parts & their prices will be available on line soon.
